What's New for July with Dawn
If you haven't stopped in yet for a "spa" class - you're
missing a fun make/take event. I think the favorite "recipe" from the three classes in June is the sugar and salt
scrub. Mix 1/3 cup sugar and ¼ cup sea salt, add and blend in ¼ cup sunflower, canola or other oil, then add
up to 8 drops of a therapeutic essential oil such as lavender or as much fragrance oil as you like. You can use soap dyes
to tint the scrub. Store in a covered jar. Rub on your hands, feet or body and rinse off with warm water. This is GREAT after
gardening or other summer activities that are hard on your hands, as well as for rehabbing feet after you've been running
around barefoot!
If you'd like to try cooking
up some of our great spa products, all three June classes will be available on a drop in basis during the Psychic Fair on
Sunday, July 19th. Each class takes about 30 minutes and you go home with plenty of product. You'll have a choice of body
scrubs, bath salts or after sun skin care products.
The
July spa classes are on Tuesday evenings at 6:45 pm prior to the guided meditation and include products for dealing with summer
insects and for scenting your home.
The big news
in terms of classes this month is that I'm going to begin offering Usui Reiki as a series of evening classes, in addition
to the full day classes I already offer. So - why spread Reiki 1 over three weeks? Mainly because it is a LOT to absorb in
one day and many people learn better if they receive the information in smaller segments with time to practice in between.
Reiki 1 will be offered in this format for the first time in July. We will meet from 7 to 9 pm on July 16, 22 and 29 - all
Wednesdays. There is a $10 discount if you register by July 8th.
And if you are one of my dog loving friends - consider joining me for an event away from the store this month. Pet
Patrol is sponsoring a Doggy Happy Hour at Chef Paul's in Mokena (191st street east of LaGrange Road) on Thursday, July
23rd. Bring your dog and enjoy a relaxing dinner on the patio while your dog shares snacks and sniffs with the other canines.
I will be there doing readings - so my dogs have to stay home this time - but they love these summer "yappy" hours!
